The social evening of the conference is scheduled to be on September 2, 2016, at 20:00 at the top Floor of the Dortmund ‘U-Tower’ (Night Club ‘VIEW’ and Restaurant ‘Das goldene U’). Alongside the dinner we will be entertained by artist Inez Timmer (singer and musical actor) and her programme on Lale Andersen (known for the famous song ‘Lilli Marlen’). Furthermore the Poster Price and the Young Scientist’s Price of ESFR will be announced during this evening.

Costs will be EUR 50,00 per person. This price includes an exclusive 3-course-meal, a glass of champagne, water, and coffee. Additional beverages can be bought individually with the use of a ‘pre-payment card’ available at the venue.

 
Location

The location for our social evening is a very special one as it represents the (beer) history of Dortmund. For many decades it stood out as the biggest brewery of Western Germany (‘Dortmunder Union Brauerei’) and is one of the very few buildings that were not destroyed in WWII. Today, it is probably the most important landmark of the city of Dortmund. It has been turned into a creative centre of arts, media and culture. It hosts e.g. a cinema, a bar/club (‘moog’), a restaurant on the floor (‘Emil’), and the well-known restaurant located on the top level (‘Das Goldene U’) which turns into a club at night (‘View’). Also, the ‘Museum Ostwall’ is based in there. It is a museum of modern and contemporary art whose collection includes paintings, sculptures and photographs from the 20th century to the present day. One of the core areas of the Museum is a quite comprehensive collection of art peaces from the ‘fluxus’ movement. Over all, this location is very close to all hotels in the inner city and provides a splendid view over Dortmund.
